The game hit the shops, and it sold well at first. But people soon began\ncomplaining about its confusing gameplay system and its tendency to freeze. Shops started\nreturning copies. In the end, the game only sold 2.5 million copies and Atari decided to bury\nall the unsold copies in the desert in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Although the company tried\nto keep the operation quiet, it was reported by The New York Times. However, without the\ninternet to keep it alive, the story was forgotten. That is, until 2014, when the filmmakers\nof the Atari: Game Over documentary found out about the site and decided to check if the\nstory was true.\nIt was difficult to get permission from the city authorities to search the desert area.
